Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY ROTHSTEIN (nee KANOVSKY) We regret to announce that Lucy Rothstein passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on February 2, 2002. Left to mourn her loss are her husband Dr. Abraham Rothstein, son Marvin, daughter Susan, son-in-law Gerald Rosenby and grandson Stephen. She is survived by her brother Dr. Frank Kanovsky and sister-in-law Janice of Los Angeles, who mourn her sudden passing along with her uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Irving. Lucy was born in Winnipeg on November 25, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Toby Kanovsky. Her early childhood was spent in Goodeve, SK where she retained many happy memories. She came to Winnipeg to attend university where her family followed after they sold their general store. Lucy was a strikingly beautiful young lady who met and married Abe in 1948. In her early marriage she was a wonderful cook and baker and kept an immaculate home. In her own quiet way she was very intelligent and capable and took pleasure in planning special family occasions. Her interests were focused on her immediate family and she had an extremely close relationship with her father. Her greatest pride and joy was being with her grandson Stephen. The family would especially like to thank Debbie McKechnie from home care who looked after Lucy when her health deteriorated in the last few years. Memorial services were held at Rosh Pina Synagogue with Rabbi Balser officiating on February 5. Interment was at Rosh Pina Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Booke, David Devere, Dr. Martin Reinhorn, Stephen Rosenby, Dr. Alan Schweid, and Allan Shafer.
