JAMES SIDORCHUK It is with heavy hearts and great sadness after a brief illness, the family regretfully announces Jim has now passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour. James our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, February 5, 2002. Jim was born on January 12, 1913, just celebrating his 89th birthday. Dad was a North End Boy all his life, except for a short stay in the Army where he won numerous medals. Dad worked at Gensers (a furniture store), as well as the Manitoba For The Disabled where he retired and then enjoyed life. In his younger days, he loved to ski, fish, golf, play hockey, hunt and play cards with friends. You never wanted to disturb Dad listening to a hockey game on the radio while his grandson Tyler was playing for the Winkler Flyers. Also, he loved listening to the Manitoba Moose. Dad loved taking his family on outings, especially for picnics to Kildonan Park, Selkirk, Gimli, and spending many happy days at Grand Beach. Thanks Dad, we sure appreciate it now. Left to mourn our great loss are his dear wife of 50 years, Elsie; his children, Janice, Jim Jr., and Wanda. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren, the apples of his eyes, Tyler Jason, Tara Lynn and Melissa Marie; his great-grandson Austin Joseph, 2 1/2, who made him laugh at all times. Grandpa was so proud of all of them. Dad also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, in-laws in the United States and Canada; especially a real good friend and Army buddy Jack Round from Scarborough, ON. He was predeceased by his mom Mary; dad Alex; three brothers, Steve, Walter, and Norman; his loving and caring sister Mary; and also by his beautiful caring daughter Carol Jane in 1998; and by other relatives in Canada and the United States, especially Rt. Rev. Joseph C. Zawistowski from South Bend, IN. The family would like to thank all the staff on GD4th wing and also to ICU at the Health Sciences Centre for their constant care and attention while he was in their care for that week. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with Msgr. Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Pallbearers will be Tyler Soares, Mario Soares, Jim Sidorchuk Jr., Ted Ranick, Tom Senior and Bob Trelka. In lieu of flowers, if one so desires, donations may be made in Jims memory to a charity of ones choice. Your courage, love and caring have given us strength. We oh so love you Dad and are going to miss you so much. See you in heaven soon, Dad. Please always look down on us and guide us life you always have done. REST IN PEACE. YOU DESERVE IT.
