Wilfred was born on January 24, 1919 and was raised on a farm in the Abbeville District. He came from a large family of 23 siblings. Trapping, hunting and fishing were the highlights in his life that he enjoyed most. Some of his nieces remember him as being a "chef" with his own style. He enjoyed to party with his friends and laugh. In his later years, he moved into the Lundar Senior Citizens Home where he lived a quiet life. He became a resident of the Eriksdale Personal Care Home in December 2001. Children were a soft spot for Wilfred and he would sometimes buy candies, cookies and ice cream for them. He loved the company of his nieces and nephews. Wilfred is survived by his sister Agnes, Alice (George) Hay of BC; sisters-in-law, Rosie and Beatrice; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Lizzie; his companion Caroline "Sweets"; sister Ida Dunn; brothers, Alex, Sam, Charlie, Felix, Bill, Joe, Edward, Paul and 11 siblings in infancy. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, at the St. Olafs Roman Catholic Church in Lundar, MB, with Father Ernest Kamath officiating. Service will conclude at the church with interment to follow at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Diane Malcolm, Rita Lussier, Bill Lussier, Roy Lussier, Marilyn McLeod, Jimmy Dunn and Jenny Dunn. Urn bearer will be Maurice Dunn. The family would like to thank Dr. Burnet and all the staff at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital and the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they gave Wilfred.
