SIMON ZWINGERMAN January 15, 1916 - February 8, 2002 Simon passed away peacefully, after a short illness at Seven Oaks Hospital. Simon was born in Drohobych, Poland. He trained as a metallurgist. He served in the Polish Army Infantry during the Second World War and spent time in a Prisoner of War camp, as well as in a ghetto and in a slave labour camp. After the war, Simon joined a Kibbutz and planned to go to Israel, but was sponsored by his future wife, Regina Brand/Zwingerman to immigrate to Winnipeg. Simon worked for most of his life in the fur industry, where he was always reliable and hard working. He was an avid sports fan and was always looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Simon leaves to mourn his sons, Hartley (Connie) Zwingerman and Edward (Susan) Zwingerman. He was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, Rhonda, Nora, Ryan, Kaitlin and Jordan. Special thanks to Dr. Koven, 2nd Floor staff at the Sharon Home and the staff of 3 Unit 5 SOGH for their kindness and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main St. Interment to follow at Hebrew Sick Cemetery.
