JOHN (JACK) EDWIN TURNBULL On February 9, 2002, Jack Turnbull passed away at the Grace Hospital. He was predeceased by his mother Helen Elizabeth (Southam) his father George Turnbull; and his sister Katherine Van de Walle. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brad, Donna, and Elva-Lynn; grandchildren, Cara-Lee, Clayton, Carl, Brooke, Hayden, Brynn; great-grandchild, Breanna; his sister Helen Mazolleck ; brother-in-law Al Mazolleck; as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in Moose Jaw, SK, on August 19, 1932, he was raised primarily in Winnipeg where he attended and graduated from Kelvin High. Jack, as he was known by most, worked for a short period as a draftsman with MTS before moving on to a successful career in broadcasting with the CBC. For 30 years Manitobans knew him as co-host of Spotlight with George Knight and Chuck Skelding, as the host of the Around Town Show, as news anchor and Bill Guests sidekick on Information Radio and as the voice of the Stadium Ford commercials, before his retirement at age 57. He had a strong interest in politics and world affairs and a stronger love of his country and pride in all things Canadian. He was a past president and long-standing member of Legion #4, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a proud member of the Shrine. He was a very talented and creative man, an individual who had a passion for his career, and more importantly, the belief in self and in his ability to succeed. He displayed incredible strength, courage, class and humour in his last days and he will be missed by those he loved. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Valerie Callis for all of her love, friendship and support that she gave our father during this, his most trying time. Her loyalty as a friend is admirable. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
