JAMES GLEN ANDERSON James Glen Anderson of Calgary, AB, beloved husband of Norma Jean Anderson, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, February 6, 2002, at the age of 91 years. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife; his daughter Shirley Winlaw-Tierney; his granddaughters, Lara and Lisa Tierney of Calgary; four nieces, Eleanor (Norman) Thomas of Montreal, PQ, Jean Mortimer and Lynn Such of Toronto, ON and Frances (Ken) Murdoch of Winnipeg, MB. Jim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Winnipeg, MB, Canada in 1913 with his parents, John and Helen Anderson and his older brothers, Alan and Laurie (all deceased). Jim was brilliant, caring and generous man, full of humour and love. He was very active with his work, his church, his community and his family. In 1939 he married Norma Jean Russell. In 1943 he enlisted with the Canadian Army and passed the exams to become an officer, and spent three years overseas. Jim worked for Osler, Hammond and Nanton Insurance Company in Winnipeg until 1949 when he transferred to Calgary. He worked the remainder of his career with the Oil and Gas Conservation Board. Both he and Norma were founding members of Pleasant Heights United Church where they continued an active presence. After retiring, Jim and Norma became active at the Confederation Park Seniors Centre, where Jim chaired numerous committees and worked as a tour guide on many trips. He enjoyed good health and good friends until his peaceful departure from this earth to be with his Lord. A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Heights United Church (1112 - 19th Ave. N.W.) on Monday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, a memorial tribute in Jims name may be made directly to Pleasant Heights United Church Memorial Fund (1112-19th Ave. N.W., Calgary, AB, T2M 0Z9).
