MOISHE (MORRIS) KOHN Moishe Kohn passed away Saturday, February 9, 2002, at the Health Sciences Centre. He was 91. He is survived by his son Barry; sister-in-law Annette; and nephews, Motti and Ralph. Moishe was born in Mielnica, Galicia, on June 26, 1910. He worked in the grain trade business before the war. His parents and many other relatives were killed during the Holocaust, but he and his sister survived. He was married in 1946 to Miriam, and they had one son, Barry, born in 1947. The family immigrated to Canada in 1948, and Morris and Miriam spent the first few years working on farms in Saskatchewan. They moved to Manitoba in 1952, where Moishe worked for a clothing store in Altona and then at Leonards in Winnipeg. In 1956, they opened Kohns Groceteria on Boyd and Salter, and then in 1961 ran Mountain Grocery on Mountain and Powers until they retired in 1978. Miriam died in 1993. A graveside service will be held at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, Monday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m.
