MARY KUSHNIRYK It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Mary Kushniryk at Vita Personal Care Home on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at the age of 92 years. Mom was born in Arbakka, MB on April 23, 1909. She is survived by daughters, Elsie (Peter) Kraynyk, Eva (Bill) Maxymowich; sons, John (Eleanor), Edward (Yvonne) son-in-law Matt Shuwera; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora Krentz, Della Hawrysh and Vera Smoliak. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Gregory and Safta Jaman; husband William in 1987; daughter Sophia in 1990; son Peter in infancy; granddaughter Christine Shuwera; sister Lena Bednar; and brothers, Bill, Alex, George and John. Mom and Dad resided and farmed in Arbakka until 1971 when they moved to Vita. Mom remained in her own home until she was hospitalized in November 2001. She took great pride in her garden, flowers, quilting, and most of all, her Ukrainian cooking which was thoroughly enjoyed by her family and friends throughout her years. Funeral services for Mary will be held on Wednesday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. from Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB., with Rev. Fr. Ihor Royik officiating. Viewing will take place prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Arbakka, MB. Sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at the Vita Health Centre for the loving care and comfort they gave Mom. Also special thanks to her lifeline responders, home care workers and many friends for their kindness.
