BETTY SCOTT After a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis we are saddened to announce the passing of Betty on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at St. Boniface General Hospital surrounded by her friends. She will be missed by her special longtime friend Fran Le Page. Also by her sister Joanne (Bob) and Wes and Jenny Doyle. Mourning her passing will be friends, Carol (George) Duguid and her cherished godchild Carrie Chmilowsky, also good friends, Alma Acheson and Anne Meekison. She is survived by her father David Scott (Marie) and brother Murray Scott. Betty was predeceased by her mother Joan Scott in 1994. Betty graduated from Misericordia Hospital Nursing Program in 1973. The majority of her career was spent at St. Boniface General Hospital. Her last position was that of Assistant Head Nurse Outpatient Oncology. Her extraordinary devotion to her patients and profession was honoured in 1996 when she received the Helen Hudson Award for CancerCare for nursing. Throughout her career she was also active in Nursing Union and professional groups. Betty certainly knew how to have fun and she lived her life to the fullest. She loved to travel and one of her most memorable trips was touring Western Canada and the U.S.A. by motor home. Betty especially enjoyed her years at the cottage at Lester Beach and was known as "Bush Betty" because of her love of the outdoors. Above all, Betty loved animals and will be missed by her friends, Mittens, Jake and Daisy. Betty always exhibited extraordinary strength, wisdom, and courage. Her friends relied on her for advice and encouragement. She suffered greatly with her Multiple Sclerosis. You could see the pain in her eyes, but she never complained. Special thanks for the excellent care given to Betty over the years by her home care workers, Terry, Lisa, Gina, Amanda, Kidist, and her nurse Wendy. Memorial service will be held Friday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Betty to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338 - 0331.
