Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryW. BURTON COOKSLEY The dearly beloved husband of Elsie (nee Watson) passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the age of 90 years. Bert was born January 2, 1912 in Minnedosa, MB to William and Eva Cooksley. Besides his loving wife Elsie, he leaves his son Kenneth (Rosalie) Cooksley of Calgary; daughters, Lorraine (Paul) Campbell of Halifax and Marianne (Tom) Derhak of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Laura (Brad) Landsdown and Glenn (Karen) Cooksley, both of Calgary, Caroline (Tim) Bugden of Halifax, David Halliday of Toronto and great-grandchildren, Jodie and Sheena Landsdown, Justin and Katherine Cooksley, all of Calgary and Noah Bugden of Halifax. He also leaves sisters, Marianne Cooksley of Winnipeg, Mildred Sloane of Pilot Mound and Jean Robinson of Edmonton; brothers, Albert Cooksley of San Bernandino and William Cooksley of Sault Ste. Marie and sister-in-law Ann Watson of Winnipeg. Bert moved to Winnipeg in 1928. He married Elsie Watson on December 12, 1936 in Edmonton and moved back to Winnipeg in 1941. He joined the RCMP reserve in Edmonton and Winnipeg from 1940 to 1952. On returning to Winnipeg he worked at Fairbanks Morris and then Westinghouse for 25 plus years retiring in 1975 to enjoy a more leisurely life with his family, which was always important to him. Bert would have belonged to the Masonic AF & AM Capital Lodge 136 for 50 years this April. Memorial service will be held Monday, February 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Prairie Walk, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Berts memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6.
