Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAMELIA AGNES BELECKI (nee DUBBIN) 1915 - 2002 After suffering a stroke on December 13, 2001, Amelia passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital on February 14, 2002 with family at her side. Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Walter; children, Blaine (Dinie) of Coquitlam, Gary (Samantha) of Calgary and Barbara (Geoffrey) Hayes of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Shawn and Brent Belecki, Jennifer (Arfan) Devji; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Rose Dubbin; sisters, Mary, Anne and Nellie and brother Felix. Amelia was born in Brandon on June 28, 1915. She attended school in Brandon and graduated with a degree in Psychiatric Nursing from the Brandon Mental Hospital. She worked at the Hospital until marrying Walter in 1940 and then devoted her life to her family. Amelia was a member of St. Augustines Church and maintained a strong faith throughout her life. Known affectionately as "Dubby" she enjoyed basketball and tennis and excelled at sewing, knitting and needlepoint. She loved to bake and her Christmas shortbread was especially enjoyed. Amelia and Walter moved to Winnipeg in 1992. Though suffering from declining health in the last few years, Amelia was able to remain at home with the help of her family and home care support. The family would like to thank Amelias homecare workers and the staff on A5 South, A7 South and 5 East at St. Boniface General Hospital for their compassionate care during Amelias extended stay. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Leo Fernandes as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Amelia may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation, CE 501-840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1 or to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
