Date of Passing: Feb 15, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA WALUK It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a very special lady in our lives. With dignity and grace the Lord called Mother home on Friday, February 15, 2002. Her unconditional love and pride for her family, faith in God, generosity to others and her hard working ethics has taught us all a lot. She has shown us over the past several months what true strength, determination, and courage is really about. Mother loved cooking, baking, and Sunday Dinners. The once a month Peroghy Sunday at Babas was famous. The grandchildren, as did her own children, were always able to bring a friend for dinner. She was called Grandma or Baba by all. She won countless 1st prize red ribbons for her yummy homemade bread and preserves. She loved feeding the birds, cats, chickens, geese and her stray dog. Her sheer determination made it possible to continue this until Christmas Day. Summertime could always find Mom in her beautiful flowers or abundant vegetable gardens - I suppose that is where each one of us got our green thumbs. Mother was born at the Magolnitski Homestead on October 3, 1918. She was able to attend Light School where she completed her Grade 11 education. Her goal was to become a teacher, but chose a different path. On April 18, 1942 she married Dad and became a homemaker and a mother of seven. Mom and Dad would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in April. They started their life together on the Magolnitski homestead and in 1946 moved to the Waluk farm. Life was often difficult but she never complained, she made the best of every situation. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Harry, daughter Eileen (Gordon Zinkowski), sons, Ken (Brenda) of Edmonton, Doug (Betty) of Teulon, Ed (Kelly) of Inwood, Harry (Yvette) of Balmoral, and John (Janet) of Edmonton. Daughters-in-law, Sharon (Ken Green) and Sherri (Ted) of Teulon. Grandchildren, Lindsay, Hailey, Chris (Tina), Bill, Josh, Kurtis, Erin (Gord), Amy, Brittany, Timothy, Jacqueline, Ashlee, Amanda, Tammi, Daniel, Ezra, and Nathan. Great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Braiden, Jordan, Emily, Haylee, Tyler, and Christina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mother was the last surviving sibling in her family. Her beloved son Richard in 1992 and her brother Jim in 2001, her parents, brothers, Archie, Michael, and William; sisters, Margaret, Anne, Bella, Jean, and Mary predeceased her. The family would like to thank Dr. Graham and Dr. MacTaggart, the Home Care Team, and Senior Resource Centre for their contribution in making it possible to fulfil Mothers wish to remain in her home. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m., MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Funeral service Thursday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Komarno Holy Trinity Parish. Rev. Fr. Harry Oliynek will officiate. Interment to follow at Komarno Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be her grandsons and granddaughters. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons, son-in-law, and nephews, Ron Waluk and Ed Bodner. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Moms memory to Komarno Holy Trinity Church or Goodwin Lodge in Teulon. We will love you forever... Rest in Peace Dear Mother "VICHNAYA PAMYAT" MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon in care of arrangements.
