HAROLD (HARALDUR) LEO JOHANNSON 1913 - 2002 Peacefully, on February 16, 2002 at the Betel Home in Selkirk, Harold passed away at the age of 88. Dad was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mary; and his son Robert (Nicole&) brothers, Joe, Barney (Gerry), and Oscar. He is survived by brother Gunnar (the late Mae) sisters, Inga and Edie (Bill) son Gordon (Evelyn) daughter Marian quot;Bonnie"; and grandchildren, Nathalie (Cam), Chantale (Rory), Gary, Lindsay, Andrew, David; and great-grandchild Michael. Dad was born near Piney, MB. In 1924 the family moved to Selkirk. At an early age Dad started working at the Manitoba Rolling Mills and celebrated 48 years of service prior to retiring. He was a devoted husband and father, and strove to provide a strong quality of life for the family members. Camping and family vacations were an important part of the family bonding. Dad was an ardent member of the Kinsmen Club and later enjoyed the brotherhood of the K-40. He also enjoyed many years as a member of the American Society of Metals. After retirement he and wife Mary spent a good deal of time visiting other countries and touring parts of Canada and the United States. At home he maintained a vigil of "puttering around" and took up curling in his spare time. A private family interment will be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. in the Knox Presbyterian Church, McLean and Eveline Street in Selkirk, MB, on Wednesday, February 20, with Rev. Ted Hicks officiating. If so desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
