HELEN DUECK (nee LOEWEN ) May 30, 1924 - February 16, 2002 Mom passed away peacefully with her family at her side on February 16, 2002 at the age of 77. Her family was her life. She is survived by her four children and their families, Bill ( Shirley ) of Saskatoon, SK and their daughters, Lindsay and Jennifer, Anita, Myrna ( John ) Michalchuk, and Sheryl all of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth of Sommerfeld Colony, Paraguay, Jake (Marge) of Morris MB, Andrew of Winkler MB, Marie (Dave) Stoesz of Calgary AB, Bill (Anne) Loewen of Altona, MB and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Tina Dueck of Altona, MB. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1977; parents, William and Marie Loewen; stepfather Henry Zacharias; parents-in-law, Gerhard and Aganetha Dueck; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ben and Tena Dueck, sister-in-law Rose Loewen, brother-in-law George Dueck, step sister-in-law and her husband Mary and Ed Wiebe; and step brother and his wife Peter and Sadie Zacharias. She was always very proud to have been part of the health care profession and worked as an LPN in Altona prior to her marriage to George Dueck on July 20, 1952. They lived in the Altona area until 1960 at which time they moved to Calgary, where she lived until 1980. After her husbands death, together with her three daughters they moved to Winnipeg were she lived until her passing. For the past seven years she resided in the Fort Gary Care Center and the Meadowood Personnel Care Home. Our thanks and appreciation to those who cared for her. Viewing will be held from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Monday, February 18 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., with an evening service at 7:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19 at the Sterling Mennonite Church, 1008 Dakota St. At moms request she will be buried beside her husband at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary, on Thursday, February 21.
