MARY M. NAUFFTS (nee TROKE) Mary Magdalene Nauffts (nee Troke), 84, of Winnipeg, formerly of Sydney, NS, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 16, 2002 in the Saint Boniface General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Little Lorraine, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Ned and Winnifred (nee Ratchford) Troke. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River, NS, before moving to Winnipeg to live with her son and daughter upon her retirement in 1982. Mrs. Mary Nauffts is survived by one daughter Kathy and husband John of Winnipeg, MB and one son John and wife Eveline of Winnipeg, one sister Mrs. Helen Fennell (nee Troke), of Sydney, NS, and numerous nieces and nephews. She and Dad helped raise one special nephew, Johnny Troke, who was like a son to them, and who predeceased her on December 24, 1994. She was predeceased by her husband John Angus Nauffts in 1970; brothers, Tom, Jack, Bill, and Joseph in infancy; three sisters, Alice Harker, Tess Hall, and Jane Campbell. Mom was a very hard worker all her days and right up until her last week on earth she did everything with a flare for life. She tackled problems head on and from 1970 raised us on her own. She dished out love by the bucketful and without prejudice. We would like to thank Dr. Drobot for his comforting words and all the staff in I.C.U. as well as the staff of the Palliative Care Ward, Pastoral Services of Saint Boniface General Hospital for the care, compassion, dignity, support they showed our mother in her last days and hours. The late Mrs. Mary Nauffts will have a funeral service at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St., on February 20 at 2:00 p.m., with Fr. Lucien Roy officiating. Service will terminate at the church. The family will return Mom home to be interred with our dad at a later date. A memorial service will be planned for her family and friends at that time. Mom we will forever miss you. You will live on in our hearts and be remembered with love. God has a special place for you in heaven that HE worked at preparing for 84 years, knowing the day and time that He was going to call you. For this we are certain and it is this thought that keeps us going on day by day. Maybe we lost a loving mother, but God gained a heart so full of love, understanding, integrity, and compassion that it just had to be shared. God bless us all! We love and miss you Mommy!
