GEORGE McWILLIAMS George McWilliams passed away February 14, 2002 at the age of 92. George was born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1909. After graduating from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute in 1927, he played professional hockey in Europe until 1940. He returned to Winnipeg and worked for the C.P.R. He retired as a conductor in 1974. In 1939 George married Hazel (nee Hewett) of Winnipeg. They lived in Falkirk, Scotland and then Winnipeg until her death in 1980. In 1983 he married Lily (nee Reay) OShea. They lived in North Kildonan until her death in 1989. George was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and his sisters, Marion, Doris and Edith. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Edna and Phyllis; son Robert of Bemidji, MN; daughter Gwen Van der Linde of Deering, NH; step-daughter Gwen (OShea) Douglas of Thunder Bay, ON; step-son Dan OShea of Ottawa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George will be remembered fondly for his kindness and assistance to family and friends, and also for his wonderful sense of humour, which never deserted him. As per Georges wishes no funeral services were held and he was cremated February 18. Interment of his ashes will be held during the summer according to his instructions.
