Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MARY SWAIL (ALLEN) Passed away on February 9, 2002 in Chilliwack, B.C. Anna was born in Myrtle, MB. on August 17, 1905. A dedicated nurse, she trained at the Winnipeg General Hospital graduating with the class of 1928. >From 1939 to 1946, Major (P/Matron) Allen served with the Canadian Army in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe, receiving several medals for her service. In 1966 she retired from the Department of Health and Welfare, Medical Services after spending many years nursing throughout Manitoba and Northern Ontario. Her retirement brought her to Victoria and then to Chilliwack. Anna was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1953; her parents, William Wallace and Margaret Stella (Long) Allen; her brother W. A. (Slim) Allen; her sister Grace I. Cockrem; nephew R. Allen Cockrem. She is survived by her sister-in-law May M. Allen; her niece M. A. Mary Baxter (Richard) and grandniece Erin; her niece Joyce Cockrem; and her grandniece Margaret OConner and grandnephews, Richard, Robert, John and Thomas Cockrem and their families. She is also survived by many cousins and friends across Canada. There will be no service, at her request. If so desired, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice. God took your hand and we had to part. He eased your pain but he broke my heart. You fell asleep with no last "goodbye". But memories of you will never die.
