COLIN ROSS CAMPBELL Suddenly, and with dignity on February 16, 2002 at Victoria Hospital, Ross Campbell passed away at 81 years of age. Left to mourn are his wife Val and children, son Kenneth (Pam), Whitney and Jennifer, daughter Coleen (Wayne Deslauriers), Chantal, Kristopher and Lincoln, son Ronald (Cathy), Heather, Tara (Rudy Venturini and Jaiden) and son Lawrence (Susan), Michael and Megan; sister Audrey (Jack Prier), sister Gwen Forbes; and brother Jack Campbell (Helen) numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is now reunited with his parents, Jack and Elsie Campbell. Ross served in the Armed Forces from 1941-1945 and was a 55 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. After the service he returned to the family farm to work with his Dad. In 1949 he married Valdis Antonius, a Bethany school teacher and together they raised four children and farmed until 1985. In 1986 Ross and Val moved to Winnipeg. Ross was a man of many talents and interests, a blacksmith, a carpenter and he used these skills, along with his boundless energy to always keep a project on the go and to lend a hand to neighbours and friends. He had a love of horses all his life and rode well into his 70s. He maintained his ties with friends in Minnedosa by way of the "South Quarter", his cottage at Minnedosa Lake. Ross also loved to travel, for that meant meeting new people. No one that ever met him could escape his wit and charm. He never missed a birthday, forgot a name, or missed a chance to call, just to see how you were or to share a joke or story. He kept a beautiful diary, which will be cherished by his family. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered with a smile. Grandpas greatest joy was his grandchildren and he took great pride in their accomplishments. >From sporting events, to dance; admiring their artwork to nursing them through chicken pox, Grandpa could always be counted on to be there. The times had at the cottage, with bonfires, the tree house and horseback riding are cherished memories for all. Minnedosa service to be held Saturday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Minnedosa United Church with Rev. Shawn Ankenmann officiating. Interment to follow in the Minnedosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. SPARROW FUNERAL SERVICE (204) 867-3868
