Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES JOSEPH MURPHY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Murphy. Suddenly, on the morning of February 18, 2002 while walking with his wife Lorraine, Charlie departed this life at age 78. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 53 years, Lorraine (Pion) their six sons, Charles (Linda), Dennis, Lorne (Tracey), Richard, Michael (Maria), David (Sue) their grandchildren, Chad, Sean, Ryan, Jesse, Sabrina, Bennett, Chapin and a soon-to-arrive grandson; his two sisters, Florence Herring of Papineau Lake, ON and Kathleen Mussellam (Fred) of Langley, BC. Charlie was born in Winnipeg on November 23, 1923 and lived in Fort Whyte, MB with his parents, Charles and Beatrice, until they moved to Winnipeg after the Second World War. Charlie served proudly in the Canadian Army for three years after which he returned to Canada Cement LaFarge where he worked until his retirement at age 65. Charlies recreation included his time at Grand Beach, curling, hunting, fishing, golf, cross country skiing and socializing with his many close friends. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Memorial Parish where he found it a pleasure to assist in the weekly services. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Aime Boiteau, Robert Tuck, Gerald Pion, Geoffrey Pion, Leo Savoie and Marcel Savoie. Honorary pallbearers will be his close friends, Ray Tilley, Roger Brick and Bob Sullivan. Prayers will be held at Edward J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St., on Thursday evening, February 21 at 7:30 p.m., with close and dear longtime friend Fr. Art Seaman presiding. The funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Church, corner of Osborne and Arnold, on Friday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Henryk Laciak presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favourite charity. Special thanks to the paramedics, and the staff of Victoria General Hospital, especially Ellen. In care of arrangements: EDWARD J.
