GORDON STANLEY HYMERS July 19, 1917 - February 22, 2002 Passed away after a brief illness Friday, February 22, 2002. Gordon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; sons, Gordon, Bruce (Pat), and Brian; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen (Loren), Janet, Kimberley, Shelley, Kaleigh, Dana and great-granddaughter Evelyn. Gordon is also survived by his sister Joyce Parman of Calgary, and brother Alan (Lorna) of Edmonton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg where he met and married Dorothy August 19, 1944 and raised their family. Worked for Sterling Engine Works during the Second World War and was an avid motorcyclist. Attained rank of Sergeant in reserve regiment Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Worked for Bristol Aerospace (Macdonald Brothers) from 1953, retiring in 1982. Gordon enjoyed various activities after retirement especially the cottage on Lake Manitoba and his grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Grace Hospital staff Unit 3 North for all their support and care. Family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., February 26 at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., St. James. Reception to follow in church hall.
