ADELE MACGILLIVRAY On Wednesday, February 20, 2002 Adele passed away peacefully, surrounded by her five children and loving husband, Jack. She was born in Antigonish, NS, July 8, 1922, daughter of John and Laura McGibbon. Adele lost her father when she was six, her mother when she was a teenager. During her mothers lengthy illness, she looked after her four brothers until she left Nova Scotia to live in Montreal and Vancouver during the war years. After Jack returned from overseas in late 1944, they were married in Antigonish then moved to Winnipeg, where they resided for 41 years. Adopting the prairies as her home, she supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities. During the past 17 years, while residing in Sidney, BC, she enjoyed golf, travel, and family gatherings. She loved and nurtured her grandchildren with all the care and verve that she provided raising her own children. Mom will be remembered for her vibrancy and caring nature. The home she kept was always a loving place and she extended this warmth to our many friends. Adele is survived by her husband Jack, son Don, Susan and their children, Kit and Jock; daughter Patricia, her children, Kelly and Jessica and their father Don; J.D. and his daughter May Lauren; Bob, Geneva and their children, Maggie, Angus, Rose Adele, and David; Allan, Val and their children, Madrin and Francis. She is also survived by her brother Terry McGibbon and friend Sid Rogers. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital where she was a favourite patient for eight months. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation 2166 Mt. Newton Cross Road, Saanichton, BC, V8M 2B2. A funeral mass will be said at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4635 Elk Lake Rd. on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. A reception to follow in the adjoining hall.
