Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE WINNIFRED MACLEAN (nee SCARTH) On Friday, February 22, 2002 at the age of 73 years. Catherine was born June 5, 1928 in Winnipeg, to Winnifred L. and H. St. Clair Scarth. In 1950, she graduated from the Childrens Hospital of Winnipeg School of Nursing. In 1952 she married Dr. John Pearson Maclean, with whom she shared her life until his death in 1991. They lived in Crescentwood where they raised their family. In their later years they built a house on the Roseau River which became their home away from home, where Catherine spent many happy times entertaining family and friends, walking, enjoying the wildlife and working in her garden. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend. She loved and was loved by all those who survive her, her children, Ian, Ken, Chris (Bob) Blackshaw and Pam (Ken) Belcher; her grandchildren, Kens Graeme, Daniel and Amelia; Chriss Michael, Alix and Stephen; and Pams Kurt and Bruce; her brothers, Alan (Helen) Scarth, David (Sandra) Scarth and Dick (Jilian) Scarth and her many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by Johns siblings, Kathryn Brett, Gordon (Gladys) Maclean, Margaret (Dal) Town and Donald (Barbara) Maclean and their children. Catherine was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a lifelong volunteer. Her creative interests led her to be involved with the Crafts Guild of Manitoba where she served as shop chairperson and for two terms as Guild president. Her interests brought her many loving friends who with her family will miss her enthusiastic approach to life. A memorial service will be held in the spring at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
