PATRICIA ANNE MARIE EVANS (nee ORAM) (Bratty Pat) After a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer, Pat went to sleep on Saturday, February 23, 2002, with her husband Tony, sons, Marc and Jason and brother Ken by her side. During her illness, Pats many friends, co-workers and family rarely left her side. Tony was her constant companion tending to all her needs. Thanks Tony for all that you have done. Pat is survived by Tony; sons, Marc and Jason; mother Jeanette; sister Debbie (Doug) favorite niece Terra and nephew Jordan; brothers, Michael (Andrea) and Ken; numerous aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Pat was born in Winnipeg on November 23, 1957. She grew up in St. James and attended Assiniboine School and then went on to Sturgeon Creek Secondary School where she graduated with a certificate in Beauty Culture. Pat had enjoyed this time and in particular her instructor Mr. White who had the patience of a saint for allowing her to get away with the things she used to do especially with her partner in crime Patty Young. It was rare to see one without the other. Pats early career choices included such endeavors as Woolco, the Westgate Hotel, (where she met her future husband) but it was when she started to work with the R.C.M.P. as a civilian member that Pat had found her passion. She enjoyed both the work and the many friends that she would make including Runa, Betty, the two Dianes (the good and evil one), Mary-Louise and of course Rod, whom she spoke of fondly. The R.C.M.P. was a very important part of Pats life as was evident in her conversations about work and the numerous memorabilia in her home. Pat also had a love of horses and with the help of her good friends, Ray and Sandra, and the inheritance from her grandfather Ed, she and her son Jason purchased their horse Leonida Bar. It was Pats joy to see her son enjoy and love horses as much as she did when we were growing up. It would be rare that a Sunday would pass without Pat dragging her sister, brothers or her friends out to the stables to see Leonida Bar. Her oldest son Marc is an accomplished singer and comedian. Pat spoke often of his ability to make her and others laugh. Marc shares his moms love of life and hopes to become a teacher. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the chemo team at the Victoria Hospital, her palliative care team, Kristin, Richard, Irene, Karen and the R.C.M.P. Pat, you were a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and cousin, but mostly you were our friend. You made a difference You made your mark You lived with passion You gave a spark Of life to those Less spirited than you You lived your life As you wanted to Because we know, And always knew, No one on earth Was the boss of you! We love you Pat, and will always remember. Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Walker, Diane Keeping, Diane Gagnon, Runa Klassen, and sons, Marc and Jason. Active Pallbearers will be members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, February 28 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A celebration of Pats life will be held on Friday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Grant Memorial Baptist Church, 877 Wilkes Ave. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pats memory to the R.C.M.P. Run for Cancer, c/o the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3C 9Z9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
