ALICE BARBARA KATHLEEN COPPLEMAN Peacefully, at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg on February 21, 2002, Mrs. Kay Coppleman, formerly of Lions Place. She was proud to have reached her 92nd birthday. Kay was predeceased by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Grace and James Petersen, and by her only brother Gordon Duncan. Left to mourn are her only child David and his wife Anna, of Brandon; and her nephew Bruce Petersen and his wife Helen of Thunder Bay, and their children, Barbara Matousek, her husband Paul and their daughters, Emily and Alexandra of Sioux Lookout, Carey of Thunder Bay, and Thomas of Toronto. Mom was known as Aunty Kay or "AK" to her nephew and his family, with whom she spent many happy times at Christmas and on other vacations. When Carey lived in Winnipeg for a number of years, she became very close to AK, and they enjoyed many occasions together. Mom loved children. Her consuming passion was teaching children the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a longtime member of Elim Chapel where she was a Sunday School teacher and Seniors Club organizer as well. A one time missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship, Mom spent many hours with friends preparing Good News Club programs, and Sunday School Lessons. Always concerned with young people, Mom served several years on the local board of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, which operates Manitoba Pioneer Camps at Lake of the Woods. Mom worked for many years for Hull Publishing Company, then for Glendale Publishers at Burbank, CA, and later for several other retailers in Winnipeg.
