MARGARET C. (RANSBY) BROWN Peacefully, at home, on February 26, 2002, surrounded by her family. Margie was born in Winnipeg on November 1, 1915, the daughter of Clara and Robert Lough. She was educated in the city, and in 1940 married Ross Ransby. After the Second World War, they moved to Fort Garry where Margie lived with pride for the rest of her life. She was widowed in 1957, and in 1961 she married Edward (Eddie) Brown. She was also predeceased by Eddie (1984) by her parents; by her stepmother Martha Lough; and by her brother William Lough. She is survived by five children, Lynne Ransby (Gerry Hodson), Nancy Bell (Robert), Ken Ransby (Marilyn), Ned Brown (Pam), and Ted Ransby (Carolyn) seven grandchildren, Brett Ransby, Myles Brown, David Bell, Kelly Brown, Susan Bell (Tom Eveson), Ross Ransby (Carrie) and Karen Sangster (Michael) and three great-grandchildren, Jessica Ransby, Meghan Sangster and Tevin Bell. Margie was a long-time member of Fort Garry United Church and was a committee member of its Christian Education program in the 1960s. As an active member of the Wildewood Club in Fort Garry, she was a leader of its junior badminton program. Although she only became a participant in badminton and golf in her early 30s, she won awards in both sports. She thoroughly enjoyed curling with Eddie in the mixed league at the Club, playing bridge with her long-time Fort Garry friends, and maintaining her lifetime association with Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Mum was a warm and caring person with great strength of character. She loved her family and friends, and took great interest in all of their activities. She and her husband Eddie successfully formed a blended family that today still shares their strong values and love. We will be eternally grateful for their wisdom, encouragement and patience. A memorial service to celebrate Margies life, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Gordon Taylor, will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. in Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd. at Lyon. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, donations may be forwarded to Fort Garry United Church Memorial Fund (800 Point Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 3L8), CancerCare Manitoba (ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg R3E 0V9), or to a charity of choice. The family extends its appreciation to Lynne Fineman for her guidance and to caregivers Lottie, Sylvia, Flo and Janet who made it possible for Mum to live at home comfortably over the past two years. A special thanks to Dr. Ruth Simkin for her care and attention. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
