KATHLEEN MARGARET KOCH (nee COPE) Peacefully on Feb-ruary 25, 2002 at the Assiniboine Centre, Kathleen Margaret Koch, aged 69 years, dearly beloved wife of Martin Koch, of Brandon, MB, formerly of Ashern, MB. Margaret was born September 14, 1932 in Ashern, MB. She attended Barnwald School until grade 8, and attended grade 9 at a Catholic School in Winnipeg, MB. On October 11, 1950, she married Martin Koch in Ashern, MB. Martin and Margaret lived in Winnipeg, Ashern, but eventually settled in Brandon in 1971. While farming in Ashern, Margaret also worked at the Ashern Hotel and Ashern Hospital. In Brandon she was employed at the Crystal Hotel Cafe and then at Perths until her retirement. Margaret enjoyed playing cards, camping, sewing, crafts, gardening, and their trips to B.C. and Ontario. She enjoyed watching all of her grandchildrens and her great-grandchildrens activities, and attending the annual Cope family reunion. In return the family will miss Margarets famous coleslaw, and all the grandchildren will miss her dill pickles and knitted mitts. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 51 years Martin; her children, Fran (David) Koch, Sharon (Jim) Gray, Lynn (Mike) Perkins, and Lawrence Koch; her grandchildren, Sandra Shari and Kathi Bertoia, Rick (Viv) Gray, Rochelle (Mike) Gray, Jennifer and Laura Perkins, and Melinda Koch; her great-grandchildren, Jessica Higgens-Bertoia and Matthew Gray; her foster daughter Iris (Paul) Wegner, children and grandchild, Richard, Jonathon and Brial Nieradka; her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Sunka, Allan (Mary) Cope, Marion Chase, Gordon (Audrey) Cope, Bernie (Carol) Cope, Fran Robinson, Carl (Jan) Cope, Florence (Conrad) Spence, and Barry (Mary Ann) Cope; also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Molly Cope; brothers, Victor and Lawrence. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Ave. Brandon, MB. Prayers will be said on Friday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ashern, MB. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ashern, MB, with Father David Kowalski officiating. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Alf, Greg, and Doug Chase, Darrell Sunka, Thor Robinson, and Steven Cope. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Memorial Fund, Ashern, MB, or to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements in care of Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd.
