NICK STECKY It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Nick on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 in the River East Personal Care Home. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kay; son Michael; daughter Lin Anderson; grandson Erik; daughter Audrey (Bill) Kuchar; grandson Ryan; brother Ron; six sisters, Elsie, Mary, Lena, Ollie, Kay and Helen. Nick was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne; three brothers, Mike, Peter and Matt. Nick was born at Zhoda. He married Kay in 1948, worked for the Vita Bakery and later for McGavins as a driver salesman. The last 15 years before retiring he worked for the River East School Division. Nick was a quiet, giving person and his love for his family was unconditional. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had a passion for fishing and loved spending summers at the cottage. Pallbearers are Michael Stecky, Erik Anderson, Ryan Kuchar, Ron Stecky, Fred Dettman and Peter Martiniuk. Prayers will be said on Sunday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4 at 10:00 a.m. also at Green Acres Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Nicks memory to the Alzheimers Society of MB, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. Our family would like to thank the staff at River East Personal Care Home for their loving care over the past seven years. A heartfelt thank you to all our special friends for their prayers and loving support. Alzheimers Prayer Dear Lord, please grant my visitors tolerance for my confusion, forgiveness for my irrationality and the strength to walk with me in the mist of memory my world has become. Please help them take my hand and stay awhile even though I seem unaware of their presence. Help them to know how their strength and loving care will drift slowly into the days to come just when I need it most. Let them know when I dont recognize them that I will...I will...keep their hearts free of sorrow for me...for my sorrow, when it comes, only lasts a moment. And finally, God, please let them know how very much their visits mean, how even through this relentless mystery, I can feel their love. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
