MARY IRENE MARTIN Suddenly, on March 1, 2002, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Mary Martin, aged 78 years, of Gimli, passed away after a brief illness. She leaves surviving her husband of 52 years, Gerald; seven sons, Don, Ron (Joy), Barry (Margaret), Gerry (Heather), Kenny (Lyndy), Michael and Kevin; grandchildren, Allyson, Anica, Dylan, Amy, Andrew and Dustin; sisters, Hazel, Fran and Shirley; sister-in-law Marion and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was born in Summerside, PEI, on December 30, 1923, was married to Gerald in 1950 and moved to Gimli in 1959. Marys main love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, which were her greatest pride. Mary was loved by everybody and will be forever remembered by all who knew her. Mary loved her yearly visits back to the Island and also bingo and riding her bike around Gimli. She was an active member of the Legion Ladies Auxilliary, always donating her time and ready to help whenever she could. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gimli Funeral Chapel with Deacon Ray Sutton officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
