KENNETH A. WOOD Peacefully, on Friday, March 1, 2002, with his loving family around him, Ken Wood, aged 78, went home to be with his heavenly Father. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Isabel; five children, Rick (Pat), Carolyn (Doug), Shirley (Walter), Ron, and Kathy (David) 13 grand-children, Terri (Dave), Deanne (Dave), Michael (Laide), Sherri (Cam), Darren (Kim), Brandi (Bill), James (Nikki), Cyndi (Mike), Christina, Angie (Chris), Kylee, Jessica, and Rachel, also Brent (Darla), Sean, Jennifer (Coran), and their children; and 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Gordon (Roberta), and George (Iris), and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his mother Eleanor in 1932 and his father Charlie in 1978, and one brother Arthur in 1996. Ken was born June 11, 1923 in Pollett River, NB. He served in the Second World War as a Sergeant and fought in Italy and Sicily. He was a proud Veteran. After the war, Ken met and married his wife Isabel in 1946. They lived in Petitcodiac, NB on a farm while Ken worked at Canada Cement. In 1960, they moved to Winnipeg, to start a business called Woods Lighting. Ken also ran Kamso Canada and Spray-On-Systems. Ken enjoyed serving the Lord at East Kildonan Baptist Church. He could also be found golfing at the Steinbach Golf Course on Saturday mornings for many years. He also loved to work in his garage making furniture for his daughter Kathy. He was always there to help all of his children anytime. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed always. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St., with Pastor Alan Brooks officiating. A private family interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, 320 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 3C7, or to a charity of choice. In my Fathers house are many mansions...
