Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMADELINE A. PANTING (nee HARRIS) Madge passed away on March 2, 2002, at the Grace Hospital at the grand age of 90. Mom will be dearly missed by her loving daughter, Carole; and in Calgary her beloved son John and daughter-in-law Sharon; grandchildren, Cheryl (Peter) and Heather (Shawn) and her great-grandchildren Brandon, Colby, Alex, Kristen, and Sydney. Madge was predeceased by her husband Cecil; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Harris; brother Art; and sister Elsie. Mom was born in the old Grace Hospital on December 12, 1911, and spent her life in St. James. Mom and Dad were married at St. James United Church in 1938. They were married for 57 years and she missed him terribly when he died. Mom was a long-time member of the church, and as a young mother she was in charge of the Cradle Roll and was a boys Sunday School teacher. The most important thing in Moms life was her family and taking care of them. She enjoyed travelling and taking care of her grandchildren. She loved gardening, baking goodies, and knitting for her family and any child in need. Thanks to the staff at 3 North, Grace Hospital for their care for Mom and Carole during this difficult time. God saw you were weary And said "Come home to Me." Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens with a gathering of family and friends in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
