MICHAEL JOHN ROSNER After a courageous battle, Michael left this world on March 3, 2002 at the Victoria General Hospital. His memory will always live on in the hearts of his mother Myra Rosner, sister Joan, brother-in-law Grant, his only nephew Stephen, his many relatives and friends. Michael was predeceased by his father, Bernard in 2001. Michael was born in Winnipeg on May 11, 1957. Being born with congenital muscular atrophy, never held him back. He accomplished more in his short forty four years than most people do in a life time. He was always cheerful, bright, articulate, thoughtful and considerate. Michael loved life and lived every minute to the fullest right up to the end. Everyday living was a struggle for him but he never complained and accepted the challenge that he was given. Everyone who knew him or came across him, always admired, liked and respected him. Over the course of his life, he had many accomplishments. He attended the University of Manitoba and graduated with Honours from Business Administration. He was one of the founders of the League of the Physically Disabled and served as its Chair for twenty years. He made countless appearances on television and radio and worked for several years for the Federal Government, Finance Department, flying to Ottawa to advocate for the Disabled. He fought to keep people in their community and out of institutions. He also had a Bar Mitzvah at the age of 13, which in itself was a great achievement. In the last year of his life, his dream came true and he was given self managed care. He lived a life of greater freedom, than ever before. This was only made possible by the fabulous group of care givers being Sly, Adam, Alex, Darrell, Brad and Marlene. To them, the family thanks them for giving him this chance. Unfortunately, this ended all too soon, and it turned out to be Michaels last finale. The family wishes to thank the able staff of the Victoria General Hospital, I.C.U. and Unit 4, for their wonderful care, especially in his last days. A funeral service to celebrate his life was held on Tuesday, March 5, at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, and was officiated by Rabbi Alan Green. The Pallbearers were David Rosner, Adam Rosner, Gerald Rosner, Irwin Fine, Peter Mendelson, and Dr. Steven Tritt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Manitoba League of the Physically Disabled or the charity of your choice. We were all honoured to know you Michael and better for it. May you now rest in peace. We loved you and thank you for letting us be part of your life.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and Mom & Dad. I was left behind to try and life without you. I thank God for Stephen as he has really been there for me now that I have mobility issues. I only hope that one day we may meet again.
