REV. DR. STANLEY JAMES MOORE 1921 - 2002 On March 1, 2002, after a lengthy illness, with Grace and Dignity, Stan slowly slipped from the loving arms of his wife Eleanor; son Kevin (Karla) daughters, Janet (Ted), Brenda (Brian), Karen, Terry (Larry) grandchildren, Holly, Eileen, Meagan, Jessie, Samantha, and Jason James, into the loving arms of God. Stan was born September 3, 1921 in Westham, England. He was educated and graduated from Cambridge. He has one surviving brother, Albert (Iris) of Norfolk, England. Stan was an active sportsman - soccer, cricket, later coached. In 1941 he enrolled into the RAF at Lords Cricket Ground, training begun in Newquay, Cornwall, went to Canada for Air Crew training and returned into the Officers Program. On April 9, 1943, he was sent on a bombing mission, was shot down over Germany, escaped into France, betrayed and became a prisoner in Poplona. After his miraculous escape, returned to England to marry Joan. They transferred to Canada, where he joined the RCAF, and raised their five children. As a career Officer, he had many postings and commissions in Canada and USA. He retired CD in 1964 to venture into a number of successful businesses - established and built Viscount Trailers - set up Argosy Travel Service, later became President of the CTC, bought and sold office supplies, had a computer business, trained and raced thoroughbreds at Canadian race tracks and Assiniboine Downs, later to become Commissioner of Racing for the Province of Manitoba. Stan was an active member in many professional associations - Masons, Shriner, Khartun Temple Oriental Band, Rotary Club, and entered politics for a number of years. After the death of his wife of 51 years, he spent time traveling, until his health forced him to seek alternative health care. This is when he met Dr. Eleanor Moreau, later to become his wife and sole mate until March 1. Stan became involved with the Moreau Institute of Natural Health, later became Vice President, and responsible for the Canadian Correspondence Department. He studied Theology and became an Ordained Minister and later received his Doctorate of Divinity. He was an active Counselor. In July 2000, they attended the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. They were volunteers at the Pan AM Games in Winnipeg. He was now writing his memoirs. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on April 6 at 2:00 p.m. at RCAF 17 Wing Bldg. 76 - enter the Whytewold gate off Ness.
