SHIRLEY PATRICIA McARTHUR It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley McArthur (nee Stewart), peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 10, 2002. Shirley is survived by her husband Peter of 42 years; her sons, Ian, Scott, and Kevin (Laura) and her grandchildren, Meghan Rose, Kennedy Blayne, and Cooper James; also by her mother Alison Gertrude Stewart and her sister Marlene Carnegie (Jack). She was predeceased by her father John Craig Stewart and her daughter-in-law Betty Jean. Shirley was born March 29, 1932. She grew up in St. James on Berry Street, and dedicated most of her working life to the Bank of Commerce, where she was well respected by her customers and fellow employees. During her early years, she was a dedicated Blue Bomber fan, and enjoyed the games along with her friends. She also enjoyed spending summers with her three sons at Clear Lake, just as she had in her youth at Grand Beach. More recently she had enjoyed the short time she had with her three grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception will follow. Special thanks to the dedicated nurses of palliative care, home care employees, and for assistance from friends and family during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirleys memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
