WALTER DOUGLAS ROSS It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Walter Douglas Ross of Winnipeg, formerly of Cypress River, MB, after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday March 10, 2002. He leaves to mourn Patricia (Darren) Macsymic; grandson Bradley; his sisters, Irene Delisle, Dorthy (Charlie) Miller, Shirley Ross White; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as in-laws in England. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Irene Mary Ross in November of 1999; his parents, Robert and Ella Ross; brothers, Lawrence, Wilmer, Ernest and sister Anna. Doug served in the Second World with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Little Black Devils). He then went to work for City Dairies and then the Winnipeg Transit for 30 years until his retirement in 1984. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Viewing will be held one half-hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Cypress River Cemetery in the family plot. Honorary pallbearer will be Thom Nash. Pallbearers will be Jim Ross, Darren Macsymic, Paul Ross, Glen Miller, Jim Dale, Wayne Johnson. Special thanks are extended to H6, and ICU at Health Sciences Centre for all their care given to Doug. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Cancer Society, Manitoba Division. A heart of gold stopped beating, Hard working hands went to rest.
