DANIEL MICHAEL LAPKA With his family by his side, Daniel Lapka, aged 51 years, of Poplarfield, MB, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, Eriksdale, MB. Daniel was born and raised in Sharpwood, MB. He received his education in Poplarfield and Fisher Branch. He had lived in Alberta, British Columbia and spent most of his time in the Sharpwood area. He had owned and operated a hunting lodge in British Columbia, worked as a carpenter in Alberta, worked for Marine Division in northern Manitoba, did seasonal construction in Ontario, and farmed and trapped in the Sharpwood area. Dad was very proud of his beautiful accomplishments on the farm of breaking the land and building a home for his family with help from his father (Guido) and his uncle Bohdan. Daniel loved to garden and canned many of his own vegetables. Surviving to mourn his loss are his children, Venessa (Marc) of Poplarfield, Dan of Poplarfield, Tyrone of Vancouver, BC, Tanya of Carman, MB; mother Ann and stepfather Henry of Edmonton, AB; grandmother Mrs. Mary Leschyshyn of Fisher Branch, MB; sisters, Janie and children, Trevor and Erica of Edson, AB, Vicky and son Robert of Edson, Connie and children, Jaymie and Andrea of Drumheller, AB, Dona and daughter Dessa of Jasper, AB; brother Tom (Melissa) of Vancouver; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Max in 1994. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 15 at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16 in the Poplarfield Community Hall. Interment will follow in the Poplarfield Community Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Fund, Eriksdale. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
