Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ERNEST BONNETT March 14, 2002 Husband for 57 years to Alma Grace Bonnett (nee Fogg). Born September 29, 1910 in Snowflake, MB to B.C. and Hettie (nee Dew). Dad (Jim) was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Eric, Harry, and Basil; and sister Beryl. He is survived by sons, Doug (Colleen) and Walter; daughter Elizabeth; sisters, Mary (Harold) Chapman, Madge Bowler, Hazel Wilson, Mavis (Bob) Johnston; brother Stan (Shirley) sisters-in-law, Eileen and Edythe; and brother-in-law Bill (Joyce) Gillanders; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was a Master Mechanic by trade, a woodworker by hobby, and an inventor. During the war, he built airplanes for Macdonald Aircraft, where he met Mom, and later worked at International Harvester Trucks, on Burnell Street, for 35 years. Dad and the Foggs created a cottage at Twin Lakes Beach, which, as with the house, he kept finishing. He even had his own private orchard, and loved tinkering with the apples and tomatoes that he grew, and visiting with the lake neighbours. Dad enjoyed seasonal duck-hunting with Doug, woodworking with Walter, and fishing with Elizabeth on Lake Manitoba, but he always returned to the Saskatchewan homestead, his parents farm near Palmer, where he grew up. Dads best work, sold as gifts to settle in far places on the planet, were his award-winning, lathe-turned wooden bowls. Each was a work of art, created on the lathe he had made himself. Throughout his life Dad had a personal agreement with The Lord, so never donated to charities. You may offer condolences to family in your own way, or simply remember our family head with flowers, which he loved. Thank you to the staff of Charleswood Care Centre for their kindness and comfort, from Grace, Doug, Walter and Elizabeth. We love you, Dad. Thank you. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Monday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
