ELIN BOYCHUK (nee RODGERS) On Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Elin, beloved wife of Ron Boychuk, went to join her father in heaven and may she rest everlastingly in the peace and tranquility she so richly deserves. Besides her loving husband, Ron, Elin is survived by her daughter Jackelin and son-in-law Jim Halverson; son Jamie, daughter-in-law Christina and granddaughters, Sarah and Mackenzie Boychuk; her mother Lena and step-father Les Mitchell and her beloved pet dog Sandy. Elin was predeceased in 1986 by her father Jack Rodgers. Also mourning her passing will be the numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in the extended family, friends and co-workers involved in her day to day life. Elin was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 5, 1953 and with the exception of the first few years, lived most of her childhood and all her adult life in Transcona, MB. This is where she met and married her beloved Ron on August 19, 1972 and raised their family of two, Jackelin and Jamie. Elins greatest joy in recent years was the time spent with her granddaughters, Sarah and Mackenzie. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay You faced your task with courage Your spirit did not bend But still you kept on fighting Until the very end God saw you getting tired So He put His arms around you And whispered, "Come with Me." So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer again. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same As God calls us one by one Our chain will link again. Also surviving Elin are her brothers, Tom (Pat) Rodgers and children, Deanna and Evan of Winnipeg; David (Caroline) Rodgers and daughters, Leahna and Casey of Kamloops, BC. Elin is also survived by her father-in-law John (Sadie) Boychuk; sister-in-law Lana Johns of San Diego, CA and children, Candice and Curtis; brother-in-law Rick (Blandina) Boychuk and children, Todd, Craig and Jill; brother-in-law Dennis (Paula) Boychuk and daughter Melissa. Elin also had a very special relationship with her cousin Marie Fielding, also with her special close friend and confidante, Paulette Harvey. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support through this difficult time. They would also like to thank Barb and the staff on 5A St. Boniface Hospital and special thanks to Dr. Ralph Wong and his assistant Cathy at the St. Boniface Hospital Cancer Clinic. Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. We love you and we will miss you Mom, Love Jackie and Jamie Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
