Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryM. IRENE FINLAYSON 1913 - 2002 With her sons at her side, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in the Neepawa Memorial Hospital on March 4, 2002. Born April 8, 1913, Irene resided in the Oakdale district, southeast of Neepawa, until she married William Finlayson in 1935. After 25 years of farming and homemaking at Arden, Bill and "Rene" moved to Neepawa in 1961 where she took her penchant for hard work and homemaking into the Neepawa Motel, other peoples homes, and finally to cooking in Osborne Home for 11 years. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Emily Barron; her husband Bill; her brother Emerson; and sister Eva; her granddaughter Pamela; and great-granddaughters, Tricia and Megan. She leaves to celebrate her life and memory her sons, Jim (Janet) of Brandon, Bob (Bev) of Neepawa, and Barry (Jan) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Scot (Vicki), Lori (Tom Thomas), Rhonda (Greg Hinther), Glen (Kathy), Bill, Cheryl (Corey Majcher), Heather, Nolan (Kristy), Ryan, and Nathan who will all sadly miss her, as will her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Teighan, Troy, Daphne, Miranda, Brandon, Dillon, Cassie, Dustin and Cody; and great-great-grandson William. Known as a quiet woman, Irene (better known as Granny by family and friends) had a reputation for homemade buns and quilts. Her life and legacy to the world, however, were her three sons and their families. Rest well Mum. You deserve it. Much appreciation to Neepawa Memorial Hospital staff, Dr. G. Ong, palliative care (especially Mary Ellen Clark) and Rev. Joe Ball for their caring. Funeral at Neepawa United Church on March 7 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Riverside Cemetery beside her Bill. Whites Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East View Lodge New Personal Care Home, P.O. Box 1240, Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0.
