JULIA BERNICE HONKE After a short battle with cancer, with her family at her side, Julia Honke passed away on March 14, 2002, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 71 years. Julia was born in Mullvihill, MB, July 25, 1930 to Joseph and Louise Davis. Her family then moved to Fisher Branch, MB in 1934. At age 17, Julia moved to Winnipeg and had been employed in various positions over the years. Julia marred Wilfred Honke in 1950 and soon after began raising a family. Julia was predeceased by her husband Wilfred in 1990. She was also predeceased by her father Joseph; brother Sid; and brother-in-law Jimmy. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, mother Louise Rickbeil and step father Calvin Rickbeil of Fisher Branch; sons, Derek, Russell (Carla) daughter Heather (George) of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law Paula of Regina; grandchildren, Corey, Shane, and Jenna. Brothers, Ken (Shirley), Larry (Grace) sisters, Beatrice (Tom), Marva (Victor) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Moms greatest love on earth was her family. Next to all this, Mom loved to play bingo, travel and crochet beautiful afghans which she passed on to family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m., March 19, at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment to follow at Fisherton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey, Shane, Michael, Darren, Ricky and Dean. Many thanks to all the nurses and medical staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Ward B5 and the nursing staff at the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion in caring for our Dear Mother.
