Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILY FORD (nee SIMPSON) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lily Ford in the early hour of March 18, 2002, at Seven Oaks Hospital. Lilys devoted husband of 51 years, Jack Nelson Ford, was by her side. Forever in the hearts of her children, Elizabeth MacKay and her husband Terry and Brenda Tibble and her husband Thomas. Cherished always by her grandchildren, Gregory MacKay, Brittany and Nelson Tibble. Lily will be sadly missed by her sister Mary Timlick, Daisy Clark, George Simpson and her twin Betty Laird. Lily was dear to her many nieces and nephews and special kinships with all her brother and sisters-in-law. Lily has been reunited with her beloved son Murray Jack Ford, her brother Alexander Simpson and her parents, Mary Ann and James Simpson. Lily and her twin Betty were born in Aberdeen, Scotland on April 29, 1929. Lily took great pride in her school work as a child and continued her love of learning all through her life. Lily came to join her sister Mary in Canada in 1947. Lily met her sweetheart Jack in 1948 and they were married in 1950. Lily always put her family first and with her loving gentle manner shared her love of learning and travel with her children and grandchildren. Lily studied French for her Canadian Citizenship papers for which she earned high marks and held with honour. While her children were growing up Lily sewed many clothes and worked on many needlepoint projects. Lily worked full time for Canada Employment and Immigration and retired in 1987. Following retirement Lily kept very busy with her many interests. Travelling every winter with her husband Jack to many destinations across Canada and the United States before settling in at Towerpoint resort in 1990 in Mesa, AZ where they stayed six months of the year. While taking in a variety of activities and always on the go they fostered many special friendships to be treasured. Lily loved sewing - an interest that provided many special moments with her daughter Elizabeth and was known for the custom baby quilts she made for new arrivals. Lilys faith was an important part of her life during both times of struggle and celebration. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd., with Rev. Ian Shaw officiating. Viewing will be in church one-half hour prior to the service. The service will conclude at the church, with cremation to follow. Pallbearers Cliff Marquardson, Larry Marquardson, Jack Marquardson, Bob Marquardson, Chris Marquardson, Lloyd Timlick. Honorary pallbearers Craig Simpson and Kenneth Laird.
