LYNDA RUTH NICKEL Peacefully on March 17, 2002 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, with her family at her side, Lynda Ruth Nickel, aged 49 years, of Moosehorn, MB, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Lynda was born at the Eriksdale Hospital on November 18, 1952. She married her high school sweetheart Lloyd on June 30, 1973 in the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn. This union was blessed with two children, Lara and Ryan. Lynda started her employment in 1975 with the Moosehorn Credit Union and worked for over 25 years with them. Lyndas loves and hobbies included crafts, flower and basket arranging, music, curling, golfing, sewing, quilting, and baking for special occasions. Lynda enjoyed times shared with her family at the Steep Rock cabin, Lac du Bonnet cabin, and wiener roasts at the beach. Times spent with friends and the trip to Germany were a highlight. Moms dedication towards the awareness of breast cancer and her involvement in the "Walk for Dear Life" was very important to her. Lynda graciously volunteered her time at the Peace Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and held the position of Superintendent. She enjoyed spending time watching over Lara and Ryan and lovingly took part in all their activities as they grew up. Spending time with her nieces and nephews was also very special to her. Mom was always a loving, caring and dedicated wife and mother, giving an abundance of love to us all. Mom will be remembered by how she could make all of our special occasions that much more extra-special. She never hesitated to put her family first, and will be in our hearts and memories forever. Our "Dear Heart" is at peace. Lynda is survived by her loving husband Lloyd; daughter Lara; son Ryan; her mom and dad Paul and Ruth Reder; her brother Donald (Susan) Reder, their children, Paul and Eric; her sister Karen (Donnie) Nachtigall, their children, Warren and Juli; brother Jeff (Carol) Reder, their children, Courtney and Lily; sister Susan (Richard) Kolbauer, their children, Gina and Robyn; brothers-in-law, George (Lorraine) Nickel, Walter (Mary) Nickel, Elmer (Linda) Nickel; and sister-in-law Maureen Nickel; along with many special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many, many good family friends. She was predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Henry and Emma Nickel and brother-in-law Edward Nickel. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, with Rev. Donna J. Smalley officiating. Service to conclude at the church, with a private family burial to be held at a later date in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. All those in attendance can consider themselves honorary pallbearers for Lynda that day. The family would like to thank Dr. Olweny, Dr. Fraser, Dr. Cook, the nurses at the Oncology Department at St. Boniface Hospital, especially to Gerri Jonnson. Also thanks to Dr. Marais and the wonderful staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital. Thank you to all the people in our community and the church for all the support they gave our Mom over the years.
