Born: Jun 18, 1919
Date of Passing: Mar 18, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA MARTEL (nee BACHYNSKY) June 18, 1919 - March 17, 2002 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on March 17, 2002. Mom leaves to mourn her passing her children, Norman, Betty (Bill), Donna, Jacqueline; her grandchildren, Karen (Wes), Cheryl (Shane), Eva, Billy, Terry and Sherry; her great-grandchildren, Damon, Jacob, and Emma. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1992; her brother Walter; sisters, Emily, Mary, and Anne. Mom was born and raised in Vita, MB. It was a time and a place she loved and spoke of often with fondness and warm memories. She then lived in Winnipeg, where she married and raised her family. Although Mom had many difficulties and challenges in her life, she faced them with strength and courage. She found solace in simple pleasures - nature, watching and feeding the birds and bunnies that came to her yard, planting trees and flowers, and caring for the many pets that came into her life. She will especially be missed by her two cats, Whoopi and Pepper. They were her constant companions and a great source of comfort to her. Mom also took delight in spending time with her family, and was always thrilled to see her beautiful great-grand-children. Mom ... Your spirit will live in all of us forever. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire Department, First Responders, Ambulance Service and Seven Oaks Hospital. You are the embodiment of heroism and human kindness. A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olgas memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or the Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. "... In all human sorrows, nothing gives comfort but love and faith." CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

As I was feeding the birds I couldn't help but smile as I thought of you and how much you loved looking at and feeding the birds that would be welcomed into you yard. Thinking of you today Grandma. Love and miss you. - Posted by: Eva (Grandaughter) on: Mar 17, 2016

Grandma, It's been 11 years since I last saw you but I remember it like it was yesterday. I think of you often and miss you every day. I am married now, and I tell my husband all about the memories I have of you. It comforts me to think that you are once again youthful, and that you are laughing as you spend time with loved ones that you have been reunited with. I miss you grandma, and know that I love you. - Posted by: Eva (Grandaughter) on: Mar 16, 2013
