BETH HORNE (nee Mackintosh) Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Beth Horne passed away peacefully at Hawthorne Lodge in Kelowna, BC on March 16, 2002. She will be sorely missed by son James (Lynn) of Kamloops; and daughters, Pennie (Dennis) Pella of Thunder Bay, and Pat (David) of Vernon. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Fernie, Amber Horne, Melanie and Daniel Pella, and David, Kelsey, and Geordie Helm; her brother Henry Mackintosh; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Beth was especially proud of great-grandson Jackson Fernie. Beth was predeceased by her loving husband James Taylor Horne in 1987; her brothers, George, Gordon, and Ian Mackintosh; and her sisters, Jean Douglas and Edith Prescott. Beth was born on December 6, 1918 in Winnipeg, MB, one of seven children. She lived most of her life in Winnipeg where she met and married her husband Jim. They lived in Thunder Bay, Hamilton, Toronto, and Montreal before moving to Kamloops in the early 80s. After her husbands death, Beth moved to Vernon and then to Kelowna. Beth was very family oriented. She worked for many years as a secretary, and at one time, operated a kindergarten. She and her husband were members of the United Church and attended wherever they lived. Beth was someone who loved to sing, cook, garden, and be with her family. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, her love, her dignity, and her kindness. We will all miss her. Memorial service to be held at a later date.
