RENE LIONEL SPENCE May 21, 1941 - March 21, 2002 After a long struggle with cancer our beloved passed on to eternal rest. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife Lillian; children, Rene, Myrna, Lorne, Greta, Evelyn C., Darryl (Donna) of Ft. Alexander, Claude of Toronto, Leslie (Crystal), Harold (Florence), Lillian Cook (Gary), Stanley (Val), Mike (Andrea), Nancy (Richard), Evelyn D., Elsie and Evelyn. Also surviving are his sisters, Sophie, Veronica, Nora, Gloria (Norman), and his brother Conrad as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rene was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Louise Spence; daughter Kim; grandsons, Derek and Matthew; sisters, Agnes, Maria, Virginia Fontaine, Martina Courchene, Evelyn Germaine; as well as two brothers and six sisters in infancy. Wake services will be held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Ft. Alexander, MB beginning March 22. Funeral services will also be held from the Church on Monday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Laval Cloutier officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons, Rene, Leslie, Claude, Harold, Stanley, Mike, Lorne and Darryl. Honorary pallbearers will be brother Conrad, friends, Ambrose Bushie, Ted Seymour, Leo Morrisseau, Brent Morrisseau, Fabian Morrisseau, nephews, Edward Bruyere, Leon Bruyere, Abel Courchene and Clem Courchene. Our heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff of the Pine Falls Hospital and Fredrica from Sagkeeng Health Center and to his many friends from Sagkeeng, Hole River, Manigotagan and Winnipeg who came to pray and sing Gods praises when he needed it most.
