MARY REHALUK On Palm Sunday, March 24, 2002, the angels carried our mother, Mary Rehaluk, away to be reunited with her parents, Stephan and Theodosia Ploschak; her brothers, Bill and Michael; her sisters, Eva (Bill Rehaluk), Eileen (Jack Halko), Alice (Anthony Drebnisky) and great-grand-daughters, Chelsea and Riley Breckman. During Moms almost 94 years on earth she wasted not a second. She enjoyed life, especially the people. It was her desire to see everyone laughing, singing, dancing, happy and well fed. Mom could turn Northern Pike into Pickerel. Our home was wall to wall people, with some living with us for years. Mom and Dad sponsored two families from war ravaged countries, and took in a third family that required happier living conditions. Mom practiced generosity in every aspect of life. Farming was Moms ambition as she competed with Dad to prove that she could guide a team of horses, drive a tractor, a combine, or a three ton truck as aptly as Dad. Mom enjoyed travel. Her greatest delight was to have sung mass while visiting in the Ukraine. During this same visit, Mom and Dad proudly carted home a prize awarded to them for dancing. Mom always made things happen. When our Blue Bell School closed, Mom collected the children of the district, organized a program, and all enjoyed a Christmas Concert for several years thereafter. The Womens Auxiliary and the Farmers Union were two projects to which Mom devoted much effort. Always a concern to her was that "farmers lack cohesiveness". Mom was deeply religious and involved in every church activity. She will be remembered best for her beautiful soprano voice. Not only did she guide her home choir, but she was also invited to join choirs while visiting other churches. And now, the honour of honours, God has invited our mother to add her angelic voice to his choir in Heaven. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Philip; daughters, Sylvia (Walter Bohonos) and Elaine (Mario Perreault) granddaughters, Dawn Lynn (Douglas Breckman and great-grand-daughter Danielle), Kerry Ann (Roger Gagne and great-grandsons, Noah and Jeremy), and grandson Blayze Perreault; and sister Stephanie (Mike Mudray). Mom gave us so many beautiful memories so that we may have roses in December. Panakhyda will be sung on Wednesday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St., with Divine Liturgy to follow, also at St. Basils. Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk officiating. Interment will take place on Thursday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Dauphin, MB, with Rt. Rev. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating.
