HARRIET ESTELLE CAMERON (nee BALLER) Passed away peace-fully on March 22, 2002 in Vancouver, BC. Harriet was born in Quebec City, QC, in 1908 then moved with her family to Montreal in 1917. She earned her Teachers Diploma at McGill University and made a lifetime career of teaching and tutoring including 11 years at John T. Errington School as she loved working with children and young adults. After her marriage to Roderick G. Cameron in 1931, Harriet lived in Winnipeg and moved to Vancouver in 1946. Harriet and Rod were avid golfers and bridge players and known for their generosity and frequent warm hospitality. Harriet was active in her church and community and and a member of the P.E.O. and I.O.D.E. Harriet and enjoyed many winters in Hawaii with close friends where she was active in swimming, community events and developed international friendships. Harriet was a gifted teacher, talented in art and music. She was a cherished friend and had a magnetic radiant personality. She was an inspiration and gave strength and loving support to her family. We will all miss you dearly. A special thanks to the staff at Purdy Pavilion 3 UBC, and Carmelita Jimenez and Rosario de la Santos for their loving care. Harriet was predeceased by her husband Rod (1962), brother Roy (1944), father Chris (1964) and her mother May (1983). Harriet is survived by her daughter Margaret M. Mitchell (Calgary) and husband Bill, grandson John C.R. Bland, and granddaughter Lynda M. Pare, Vancouver, BC. A celebration of Harriets life was held at Canadian Memorial Church, 15th Avenue and Burrard Street, on Wednesday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to P.E.O.
