GRACE ROSS It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Grace Ross on March 25, 2002, after a short battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Frances Mooney; brother Nelson Mooney; sisters, Eunice Martin and Stella McIntyre; and infant brother Clifford who died at birth. Also, brothers-in-law, Alvin Hodgson, Stan Martin, Ralph McIntyre, and Alf Kemp. She is survived by loving husband Don and children, Lorne, wife Gwen, Stacey, and Lindsey; Garnie; Vicki, husband Jack Klassen, Leigh, Chad and Lynn; and Cindy. Also, sisters, Isla Hodgson, Edna (Lloyd) Ellis, Helen Kemp; and brothers, Verne (Ruth) Mooney, Gordon (Audrey) Mooney, Tom (Marie) Mooney, Lorne (Loretta) Mooney; and sister-in-law Marg Mooney. Also, sister-in-law Shirley (Ross) and Bill Anton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Cartwright, MB, August 15, 1934, Grace was the youngest of 12 children. She received her education at Cartwright School and soon began working as an operator for Manitoba Telephone System where she met Donald Ross, also employed by MTS. They were married in Cartwright on St. Valentines Day, 1953. After raising their four children, Grace returned to the workforce. She retired from the Cartwright Health Center at the age of 64. She was active in the community and supported all local initiatives. After the purchase of a cottage at Rock Lake, Don and Grace established a strong circle of friends who will surely miss her evening coffee and desserts. Grace was a model grandmother who devoted much love and attention to her four granddaughters. A favourite pastime with the granddaughters was the Tea at Ten ritual, which will certainly continue in her honour. Some of her other cherished times were spent at the Corner Pocket with Cindy enjoying coffee time. It was a life spent devoted to family and friends and she will be greatly missed. A service of remembrance will be held at Cartwright United Church, Thursday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Cartwright Cemetery. If family and friends so wish, donations may be made in Graces memory to the Cartwright Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba. GRAHAMS FUNERAL SERVICE of Pilot Mound in care of arrangements.
