ELIZABETH (BETTY) LINDSAY RAMSAY CASEY OLSON CARTER Unexpectedly,on March 24, 2002, in her 87th year, at her home in Winnipeg, MB. Betty was predeceased by husbands, Paul Olson and William (Bill) Carter; brothers, Andrew and David Melville, and sister Florence (Staruch) Toomson. Lovingly remembered and missed by sister Myrtle Peabody; sons, Charlie Olson (Flo) and John Olson (Meredith) and daughter Helen Flint (Earl). Fondly remembered by grandchildren, Judi (Glen Chiswell), Kathy (Ken Burnell), Margaret (Kevin Orchard), Michael and Amanda Olson, April (Russ Frego), Sylvia (Tom Benstead) and great-grandchildren, Kendra Chiswell, Michael and Samantha Burnell, Thomas and Sarah Orchard, Tyler and Lindsey Frego, and Dylan and McKenzie Benstead, as well as many nephews. Betty was born April 15, 1915 in Winnipeg and grew up in the Elmwood area of the city. Along with sisters, Myrtle and Florence, Betty was one of the vivacious Casey girls of Meighton Ave. In the midst of the Great Depression, Betty met and married her first love Paul. Their happiness continued for 30 years until his death in 1964. Later, with Bill, she once more found love and joy. Unfortunately, their life together was made all too short with Bills untimely passing. After raising her two sons, Betty worked for many years with the CNIBs food services at the Winnipeg General Hospital and the MTS. She was above all else a people person, a terrific cook and a dextrous craftswoman. Betty will be fondly remembered for her boundless enthusiasm and vitality which she maintained to the end. A celebration of her life will be held in Winnipeg at a later date.
