Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTOM BROADBENT February 24, 1925 - March 28, 2002 He Is At Peace Now Tom enjoyed his life, his family and all the friends he made along the way. Tom is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce; and children, Jim (Sheila), Mike (Kim), Rosemary and Tommy. He was a proud grandfather of Alana, Michael and Keesha. He also leaves his sister Alice Nelson and many wonderful friends and family. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Anne Broadbent and his brother Mike. Tom was born, raised and worked in Transcona. At age 16, he began his apprenticeship as a machinist at the CNR. From 1943 - 1946, Tom served with the RCAF and was posted overseas as an aero engine mechanic. In 1980 he retired from the CNR after many years as a foreman in the Rail Plant. In 1958, with the help of his sons, Tom built a cabin at Deception Lake. Here he enjoyed the friendship of many, gardening, fishing, sing alongs, Moms blueberry pies and the peace of nature. In 1996, Tom and Joyce moved to the St. Vital Knights Villa where they made many new friends and enjoyed life. There is a special kind of feeling, That is meant for you alone. A place within our hearts, That only you can own. There will always be a sadness And often a silent tear. But always special memories, Of the days when you were here. - Anonymous In respect of Toms wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to the common room of St. Vital Knights Villa, 537 St. Annes Rd. on Saturday, April 6 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. to celebrate Toms life. Flowers gratefully declined.
