She leaves behind the gifts of love, laughter, and music and will be deeply missed by husband John, children and grandchildren, Chris Freeman and Gale McIntyre, David, Seth and Vaughan Freeman, and Ruth, Myles, Norah and Daniel Lumax; sister Elizabeth and Gordon Fuller, and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Verna and Bert Carruthers; brothers, Eber and Ewart, and four daughters in infancy. Margaret was a child of the prairies and a lifetime member of the United Church of Canada. She attended Normal School in Gimli, and United College in 1944 to 1947, where she received her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in music. She married John Price Freeman on May 23, 1947 in Arden United Church. They lived in Red Lake and Atikokan ON, Flin Flon, and Winnipeg, Adelaide, Australia and Morden, MB before retiring to Winnipeg in 1990. She attained her A.R.C.T. while in Flin Flon and completed her Masters degree in Educational Psychology at the age of 65. Marg shared her gifts of music and faith with many. Long time hobbies of painting and bird watching helped her maintain a close connection to nature. Among her most special gifts were her smiles, winks, and hugs. We, her family, give thanks for the rich and abundant life we shared with Marg. We would also like to extend our deep gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Riverview Health Centre, in particular those who worked on 3E. Your excellent care and compassion for Marg and for all of us made this difficult time more easy. Donations may be made to Amnesty International. Memorial service will be held Monday, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. in Regents Park United Church, with luncheon to follow.
